Road bike hire is available on any of our Loire Valley cycle tours.
Road bikes are a upgrade option and availability is limited. So, it will be early bookers that have more of a chance of grabbing one!
Orbea Avant
The Orbea Avant has carbon forks, a Shimano Tiagra group-set and rides on Kenda Kriterium 700×25 tyres. Orbea is a French/Spanish bike manufacturer. More about Orbea.
We have road bikes with both flat adjustable handle-bars, and traditional drop handlebars. The flat bars make adjustments for individual riders easier.
We are happy to fit your own pedals and seats to these bikes and any other gadgets you can’t do without!
Ali and I have been testing the bikes and have been really impressed with the quality of the components. We’ve also been surprised by the number of people who have flagged us down to either admire them or ask us where we got them from.
We’ve added a further Orbea Avant model for road bike hire. Still with carbon forks but with drop handlebars and the SORA group-set. We don’t have the hills in the Loire Valley to justify full carbon frames.
Road Bike – Cannondale Synapse
We also offer the Cannondale Synapse. The geometry of the Cannondale is perfect for longer rides and the build quality is fantastic.
It differs from the Orbea’s with disc brakes and slighly wider tyres. I’ll be honest – I’m not so keen on the disc breaks, they are harder to maintain and more complex to adjust – but fashion has seen them becoming standard on many hybrid and road bikes.
Offering road bike hire in enables guests to cover the ground more quickly and has enabled us to add longer Loire Valley bike routes to our catalogue.
Through experience, we’ve found a good formula for the style of hybrid, electric and road hire bikes that work well in the Loire Valley.
