Road Bike Hire – Loire Valley Bike Tours

November 22, 2019 by Jon Lethbridge

Road bike hire on our Loire Valley bike tours is becoming a popular upgrade with our guests.  So, we’ve added more road bikes to the cycle hire fleet – already preparing for our 2020 Loire Valley Bike Tour season here in France!

Road Bike – Orbea Avant

We’ve purchased a further Orbea Avant model, as guests enjoy riding them so much.  This model has carbon forks, drop handlebars and the SORA group-set.  For cycling here in the Loire Valley, we don’t have the hills to justify full carbon!

Cannondale Synapse

For the second road bike, we have tracked down a Cannondale Synapse from their 2018 range.  As we mentioned in our Greek holiday post Alison found the geometry of the Cannondale perfect for longer rides and the build quality was fantastic – so we’re giving one a try.

It’s our first bike with disc brakes, so we’ll see how they go – personally we don’t think they’re necessary for the Loire Valley, but they seem to becoming standard on many hybrid and road bikes.

Through experience, we’ve found a good formula for the style of hybrid, electric and road hire bikes that work well in the Loire Valley  (the subject of a future post perhaps?).  See more on our Loire Valley hire bikes.

So, Jon will be fitting some pedals, bottle holders and other necessities and when we get a better weather day (don’t forget, it’s winter here!) we’ll give them a whirl around the Rural Anjou route – with lunch at the bar obviously!

Hire bikes can be upgraded to road bikes on our Loire Valley Discovery Cycling Tour and Loire Valley breaks.

As at the end of this October we are 50% full, so don’t leave it too long to plan your cycling holiday in France!
