Preparing for the 2020 season

February 6, 2020 by Jon Lethbridge No Comment

Winter is almost behind us and with a blue sky Jon headed out on one of the new road bikes added to the bike hire fleet.

There are always backroads to explore and some that we want to add into the Discovery Tour for the 2020 season – it keep it interesting for us and for returning guests.  Today’s route covered 30kms and Jon was passed by 2 cars – not unusual but why we love cycling here!

We’ve been busy over the winter with improvements to Gue de Ray – our cycling base.

One of the first facilities our guests use when they arrive is the laundry!  Often guests have travelled for weeks and a chance to get everything laundered is a real bonus.  So we’re enlarging the laundry room by replacing the stairs in the farmhouse with a design that makes more space.

The work is really coming on with the plaster-boarding complete and the stairs fitted and already varnished.

The stairs are a work of art, as none of the property’s walls are straight, but the stairs follow the lines perfectly!

Outside, we’ve had the trees trimmed, dead wood removed and the branches raised to let in more light this summer.  We never realised trees need so much looking after.

Enjoy the photos we’ve posted from today’s ride – gives you a flavour of the lovely backroads we enjoy in the Loire Valley!

The first May Discovery Tour is now full and the second is booking up – so if you’re keen this year you need to get a wiggle on!

Enjoy your cycling!
