How to get to the Loire Valley, France
Travelling from overseas
Paris Charles de Gaulle airport would be your usual arrival point in France. It is possible to then take a direct high speed train from the terminal building to the Loire Valley, without having to go into Paris first.
Travelling from the UK
We are an easy drive from all the channel ports and Eurotunnel.
Budget flights also operate from London Stansted direct to the Loire Valley.

Getting to the Loire Valley by road (from UK)
We are 2.5 hours from Caen (Brittany Ferries), 5 hours from Calais (P&O) and 4.5 hours from the Eurotunnel terminal. The driving is easy on the French AutoRoutes and you don’t go anywhere near Paris. (Times shown are driving times from French port to LoireLifeCycling).
Getting to the Loire Valley By Rail
High Speed Rail (TGV) is the quickest way of travelling within France. Our nearest TGV stations are either Tours St Pierres des Corps (TGV) or Angers St Laud (TGV).
From either of these stations you take a twenty minute connecting service to Saumur station.
Travelling from the UK, the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord is an alternative to flying. From Paris you would then travel from Paris Montparnasse station to either Tours St Pierres des Corps or Angers St Laud as already described.
Transfer from Saumur Station
We can arrange a pickup service for the Loire Discovery Cycling Holiday. The pickup is at 4pm on the Sunday and departure is at 7.45am on the Saturday, enabling you to catch the first batch of Saturday morning services to the main hubs of Tours St. Pierre des Corps and Angers St Laud.
If our transfer service is not convienient for your travel arrangements, we can arrange a private taxi transfer instead (approx €60 one-way).
If you have chosen a Short Cycling Break, then we can arrange a private taxi transfer from Saumur station.

Flying directly to the Loire Valley
Tours Loire Valley and Paris Charles de Gaulle are our nearest airports with direct routes into the UK. This makes a long weekend cycling trip easy!
Tours Airport (1 Hour from Loire Life Cycling)
London Stansted to Tours – Flights by RyanAir from £20 each way.
Dublin to Tours – Flights by RyanAir from 20€ each way. You are able to hire cars from the airport or take the shuttle bus to Tours Centre railway station and take a 25 minute train journey to Saumur.
Paris Charles de Gaulle (3 Hours by car from Loire Life Cycling)
Paris Charles de Gaulle offers links to the entire world. Direct from Terminal 2 (so without the need to go through Paris) you can catch high speed trains (TGVs) that will take you to Tours St Pierres des Corps or Angers St Laud in the Loire Valley in one and a half hours. You then change for a train to Saumur (25mins).
Hire car is available at Tours Loire Valley Airport, Charles de Gaulle Airport and from St Pierres des Corps, Angers St Laud and Saumur train stations.
