The Discovery Cycling Tour – Marvelous May!
A week cycling in the Loire Valley goes by so fast!
Guests from Australia and the USA enjoyed perfect cycling weather for our first Loire Valley Discovery Tour of the 2015 season. We’ve kept to our tried and tested (and popular!) formula so over the course of the week the group cycled around 200kms, much to their surprise! Crossing the Loire in three locations, Gennes, Langeais and Montsoreau they discovered that there is so much more to the Loire Valley than Chateaux and wine.
Mushroom caves, troglodyte villages, hidden Chateau that guidebooks never visit, meadows full of spring flowers, poppy fields and scores of pretty quiet French villages. As usual, the biggest surprise for our guests was just how great a cycling environment the Loire Valley is – so many quiet roads laid with tarmac and on the whole motorists who give plenty of time and respect on the road. Between you and me, I think a couple of the guests really caught the cycle touring bug….
The week was finished by a cycle to Le Tasting Room for lunch and wine tasting with Cathy and Nigel Henton – the perfect end to the perfect week.
