Mixing wine and work
Just as cycling and other outdoor activities spring back into life in the Loire in May, so do the vineyards as they fling their doors open to let us sample the fruits of their labours.
Over the Easter weekend we spent a happy half day tasting at Chateau du Petit Thouars and this weekend at Domain des Champs Fleuris in Turquant, just east of Saumur.
You can cycle through the Troglodyte village of Turquant on our Loire Valley Discovery Cycling Tour.
This year, wines from both of these vineyards will be served with our meals on our Loire Valley cycling holidays.
We’ll be offering sparkling white and rosé, a range of Cabernet Franc reds (from light through to rich and complex) and rosé and whites based on the Chenin blanc grapes.
We’re still planning to add some Sauvignon Blanc and maybe even the unusual Grollo (red or rosé) and Cot (known elsewhere as Malbec).
All the wines are local and we buy direct from vineyards – usually purchased at the end of a great wine tasting session!
If you’re joining us this year, then we’re sure you’ll enjoy what we’ve chosen.
