Loire Valley Cycling Breaks – Flexible & Fun!

Loire Valley cycling breaks for all levels of cyclist and all styles of cycling.  A flexible way to enjoy a fantastic cycling holiday in France.

Start on any day of the week, stay at our beautiful base at ‘Le Gue de Ray’ and choose from our extensive catalogue of cycle routes to create your own Loire Valley cycling break.  We’re located just north of Saumur, in the heart of a UNESCO stretch of the Loire Valley and the Anjou Touraine Regional Park.

Cycle to some of the most famous Chateaux in France, wander the vineyards, explore the beautiful white stoned towns or just make the most of miles and miles of quiet roads and stunning scenery – a cyclist’s paradise!

What’s Included

We have a minimum three night stay and additional nights can be added.   Your short cycling break includes ensuite accommodation, a sumptuous breakfast, a hybrid/touring bike & accessories hire, access to our Loire Valley cycle routes catalogue, our expertise and emergency back-up support.

If you prefer to bring your own bike there is a discount to the basic price (ask us for details).

Loire Cycling Routes

We’ve created a route catalogue which you can browse at your leisure and with our help create your own Loire cycling adventure.  See more about our Loire Valley Cycle Routes.

Ten years of experience have gone into creating our catalogue and each route has an annotated map, a supporting set of directions and an optional GPS file for uploading to your Garmin or Smartphone.

Options

Bike Upgrade

We have a range of touring, hybrid and road bikes on offer and are happy to fit your saddles or pedals to our bikes to make your riding as comfortable as possible.  Our basic package includes hire of a hybrid/touring bike; upgrade to a road bike is 20€ per day. We also include helmets, paniers, odometers, map holders & water bottles in our price.  See more on our Bike Hire.

Evening Meals

We are able to provide evening meals:

  • Apero Platter – €10 per person – a selection of local meats, cheeses and chutneys served with salad and fresh French bread.
  • Two course evening meal – €18 per person – a main course, glass of wine, followed by a delicious dessert (served on two evenings per week).

Guest Kitchen

We have a guest kitchen and an outside BBQ that can also be used for evening meals.

Restaurants

There are high quality restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive and we are able to provide a pickup and drop-off if booked in advance.

End of Route Pickups

Our cycle routes are circular, but if there is somewhere you want to visit and you can’t manage the distance then we can provide an end of route pickup for an extra charge.

Train Station Transfer

To travel to us you can arrive by train at Saumur train station and we can arrange for a taxi to bring you to Gue de Ray.

Additional Nights

Additional nights are charged at €125 per person. So for four nights – 575€pp, five nights – 700€pp etc.

Getting to the Loire

From the UK by car

Take the night boat from Portsmouth to Caen and you can be with us by 10.30am and cycling by 11am!  Take the Channel Tunnel and we are an easy  five hour drive.

By Train

Take the train from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (1.45h) or Paris Montparnasse (1h) to Tours St Pierre des Corps or Angers St Laud and then get the connecting train to Saumur (25mins) – simple and quick.  See more on how to get to the Loire Valley
