French Cycle Breaks - Eating
Breakfast is part of the package. The cycling routes give you chances to grab great lunches and in the evenings we have a range of options for you to choose from.
French Cycling Breaks – Lunch
If our cycling in France has taught us one thing it’s that a French lunch is part of the day’s cycling!
The traditional ‘Menu Ouvrier’
For around 13€ you will get a three course meal with wine included and sometimes cheese. Served religiously between 12 and 2pm it’s a great way to get into the French way of life in the Loire Valley. Some restaurants have a help yourself counter for starters, which makes it flexible for dietary requirements, because if you don’t like the main course the owners are happy for you to pay a second visit to the counter.
If you don’t want the entire Menu, then just the main course will be about 9€, but you’ve just cycled so why not?
All of our routes have a lunch stop built in, but you’ll also pass Boulangeries (bakeries) which will put together a ham and cheese Baguette for a picnic.
French Cycling Breaks – Evening Meals
After a great day of cycle touring the French countryside, we have three options for your evening meal.
Apero Platters – 11€ per person
Take the most convenient option and opt for one of our Apero Platters – French bread, pickels and a selection of cured meats, cheeses and other local produce.
2 Course Evening Meals – 18€ per person
A delicious main course followed by a naughty dessert – all freshly prepared from seasonal ingredients. Wine is available for purchase.
Use the fully equipped kitchen to cater for yourself. There is a grocery shop and Boulangerie in the village.
Try out one of our local restaurants, all within a 15 minute drive and which we can book on your behalf.
- Bar du Musee, Parcay les Pins (5 mins). Nice and easy as it is in the village and the patron always does a good steak frites.
- Le Bouff’tard, Hommes (15 mins). Our favourite and the sort of place you only discover if you know the area!
- L’Oree des Bois, La Breille les Pins (15 mins). A gastronomique ‘Logis’ hotel/restaurant with white table-covers and waiters in waistcoats.
- Le Pelican, Vernantes (10 mins). The restaurant of another small ‘Logis’ hotel with beautiful high quality cuisine and great value set menus available.
The beauty of our Loire Valley cycling breaks is by using our expertise, which is always on hand.
So you spend more time enjoying your break, rather than trying to decide what to do – or how to do it!
